Some of the more photographed seastacks near Vík í Mýrdal on the southern coast of Iceland still make a tantalizing target for shooting. We managed to get there just as the sun was setting (around 10 pm local time!)
We got to Skógafoss the night before this shot was taken but we were tired, it was getting dark, and the weather was poor. Coming back the next day on our drive back to the airport proved to be a great decision as the better lighting provided both a bright blue sky and a rainbow to highlight this already impressive sight.
On our drive back to the airport on our last day we still saw many smaller waterfalls. There are seemingly and endless number of smaller falls that are visible when looking towards the interior glacial plan from the Ring Road. The sun and the bright blue sky really accentuated the unbelievable green color that was in abundance.
